Natural History Museum, Tring.

On 1st September 2017 members of the group visited the Natural History Museum, Tring.

Schedule :

10.30/45 –  Welcome from Alice Adams, Exhibitions Manager.

11.00-12.30 – Behind the Scenes collections tour with the curators.

12.30-13.30 – Lunch

13.30 onwards –  Public galleries/tours. Alice to do brief intro re Rothschild Room and historical elements of education/events/exhibitions programme. Elle and/or Alison leading group tour/talk in galleries looking at the domestic dog collection and Rothschild’s museum.

 

Zoological Society of London Library Tour

On 13th December 2018 members of the group visited the Zoological Society Library. Members heard all about Philip Lutley Sclater, a key individual in the history of the Society, before viewing some of the wonderful Library and Archive Collections.

 

RCVS Archive Showcase

3rd April 2019 saw members of the group gather at the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons where we were given opportunity to view some of the amazing historical collections they hold.

Miss Clara Exhibition, Barber Institute

26 February 2022 saw members of the Animal History Group go on their first post-pandemic(ish) visit to the Barber Institute of Fine Arts, The University of Birmingham, to see the ‘Miss Clara and the Celebrity Beast in Art, 1500 – 1860‘ exhibition.
